The Neighborhood
The Noe Valley boundaries are generally considered to be -
To the north of Noe Valley is the Castro neighborhood, the Mission District is to the east, to the south, you will find Glen Park, and to the west is Twin Peaks. The main commercial areas in Noe Valley are 24th Street between Diamond and Dolores and Church Street between Elizabeth and 30th. Here’s what Fodors has to say about Noe Valley: “This upscale but relaxed enclave just south of the Castro is among the city's most desirable places to live, with laid-back cafés, kid-friendly restaurants, and comfortable, old-time shops along Church Street and 24th Street, its main thoroughfares. It was spared the fire that followed the 1906 earthquake and has many pre-quake homes. You can also see remnants of Noe Valley's agricultural beginnings: Billy Goat Hill (at Castro and 30th Streets), a wild-grass hill often draped in fog and topped by one of the city’s best rope-swinging trees, is named for the goats that grazed here right into the 20th century.”
