Celebrate Mother’s Day with
GROVE ON THE ROAD
Free Mobile “Pop Up” Arts Festival, Family Activities & BBQ
Presented by Stern Grove Festival Association
Sunday May 10th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
Celebrate Mother’s Day with Stern Grove Festival Association at one of its popular Grove on the Road mobile “pop up” arts festivals on Sunday May 10th from 11 am to 3 pm at Noe Valley Town Square (24th and Sanchez Streets). These admission-free afternoon events are held throughout the city, where the Festival experience is delivered directly into diverse neighborhoods of San Francisco.
Grove on the Road mobile festival days bring concert performances by local artists, interactive arts education programs, and an overall community “block party” atmosphere to urban spaces that have not traditionally been used as arts venues. In addition to the performances, Grove on the Road offers family-friendly hands-on arts programs, instrument exploration stations, and interactive workshops, creating an integrated community experience, and a fun all-ages event.
The May 10 Mother’s Day celebration features art workshops, an instrument exploration station, and performances by Lila Blue, Mental 99, the Mosswoods, and Hot Club of San Francisco. Detailed schedule included below and more information available at sterngrove.org/groveontheroad.
Grove on the Road at Noe Valley Town Square is presented by Stern Grove Festival in partnership with Noe Valley Merchants and Professionals Association, Noe Valley Association, Friends of Noe Valley, Residents for Noe Valley Town Square, and the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.
Grove on the Road is all about the re-imaging of cultural spaces, taking the performance experience out of the concert hall and out to the streets, inviting communities to look at everyday spaces as possible cultural venues. Grove on the Road, presented by Stern Grove Festival Association, is made possible with support from the James Irvine Foundation, the San Francisco Foundation, and Google.

About the Artists:
Lila Blue: http://www.lilabluemusic.com/
At the young age of 14, local artist Lila Blue’s rich vocals and prolific songwriting talent belie her young age. Inspired by artists like Patti Smith, Joni Mitchell, and Regina Spektor, Lila started writing songs at the age of eight. Lila plays the ukulele, bass and guitar and released her first album, Lucille, in October 2014.
Mental 99: http://www.mental99.com/
San Francisco’s Mental 99 is an instrumental rock duo consisting of guitarist Joe Gore and drummer Dawn Richardson. Employing “live looping” into their performances, they conjure vast, layered panoramas of sound.
The Mosswoods: http://www.themosswoods.com/
The Mosswoods are a six-piece country soul band from Oakland. The Mosswoods reimagine the classic country hits of Hank Williams and Porter Wagoner, among others, as if they came through the hit factories of 1960s Memphis and Muscle Shoals.
Hot Club of San Francisco: http://www.hcsf.com/
The Hot Club of San Francisco continues the tradition of fine French Gypsy Jazz performed on string instruments. The group has performed in the Bay Area, across the country, and abroad for more than 11 years.
