Thanks to all of you who attended this year’s Friends of Noe Valley Garden Tour on May 21st. Over 300 tickets were sold and counting the kids who went for free, there were over 300 attendees at the event. We raised a little over $4,300 from ticket sales and hope for more after Paxti’s hosts Pizza Night in late July.
The proceeds will go to two neighborhood beautification projects including landscaping with drought resistant plants on the Sanchez Street side of the Upper Noe Recreation Center and providing shade structures for the James Lick Middle School garden.
We had forty volunteers who worked at the nine gardens on the tour. This year’s gardens included six owner gardens and three professional gardens with rainwater collection systems, greenhouses, native plants, a koi pond as well as beekeepers.
After tallying the votes the winner of this year’s Top Garden was Jeff Parker and Jim Collins garden on 27th Street. Congratulations Jeff and Jim!
We will be accepting submissions for next year’s gardens in January and will begin our inspections in February. If you are interested in sharing your garden for the 2012 tour let Friends know at info@friendsofnoevalley.com.
